THE COUNTY WRITES….THE COUNTY READS
2024: Matthew R. Morris, author of Black Boys Like Me: Confrontations with Race, Identity and Belonging, described growing up in Scarborough, the son of a white mother and Black father, discovering hip hop as a young child and its lasting impact on him and shattering stereotypes of black males.
2025: Matthew returns to CWCR to discuss his reaction to the Super Bowl halftime show and the controversy the performance by Kendrick Lamar and appearance by Serena Williams has generated.

Election day in Ontario is Thursday, February 27. Tyler Allsopp, current Progressive Conservative MPP, is running for re-election and he discusses the issues concerning Bay of Quinte voters. Amanda Robertson, NDP candidate, outlines the platform and priorities for her party.
Last week, Paris was host to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit. Mark Daley, Chief AI Officer at Western University and professor in the Department of Computer Science, explains the promise and pitfalls of AI and why the United States and the United Kingdom refused to sign a declaration on “inclusive and sustainable” AI.

From 2019 to 2023 the number of syphilis cases being reported among women has increased by a staggering 499%. Stephanie McFaul, Manager of Sexual Health and Harm Protection, and Jen Ronan, Public Health Nurse of the South East Health Unit, talk about how to prevent, recognize, test, and treat this sexually transmitted illness.
When is ice safe? What do we do if we fall through the ice, or see someone who does? In our studio to talk about ice safety is Community Safety and Media Relations Officer, Nicole Cordingley of the OPP Picton Detachment.
CARP is a non-partisan, non-profit association advocating on behalf of thousands of retired persons coast to coast across Canada. Representing the local chapter of members, Louise Warr makes her way into the studio to talk about what they advocate for with government agencies and how members benefit from having access to educational webinars and newsletters, opportunities to volunteer and participate in social events and receive discounts in products and services.
