Chris Malette, a Belleville city councillor and former journalist, is running for the Liberals in the Bay of Quinte riding. He discusses the challenges facing the area and the platform and priorities of the party. Recently, Public Health warned residents to take precautions to avoid ticks and Lyme disease. Dr. Jade Savage of Bishop’s University is the principal investigator of etick.ca. The website invites the public to submit tick photos and etick.ca will identify the type of tick and assess the risk.

You may have heard our new “Reflections on Lives and Times in PEC” history series that runs throughout the day. We are now presenting the full story behind these vignettes. Tune in every Thursday for the next five weeks. This week’s stories: Born and raised in the county, George “Lightning” Ellsworth, was a hard-drinking, violent robber and murderer who fought for the Confederate Side in the American Civil War. Researcher Peter Lockyer. Also featured this week, Dr. Oronhyatekha or Burning Cloud as he was known in Mohawk. He was the first known aboriginal scholar at Oxford University, a capable physician, a successful CEO, a statesman, an athlete, and a champion of minority rights in the mid to late 1800s. Co-host Mary Ann Farrell spoke with Laurie McLachlan and Julie Seddon, two painters, connected in Prince Edward County as they prepare for their upcoming exhibition, Fate and Happenstance opening in Belleville on April 12. McLachlan’s work embodies raw emotion and immediacy, while Seddon captures fleeting moments through the lens of photography and painting. The interplay of destiny and chance is evident in their respective processes, whether in the serendipitous alignment of reality and abstraction in Seddon´s work or the channeling of visual language within McLachlan’s emotional expression. Both artists’ works celebrate color and composition with the intention to communicate a sense of wonder and joy.

Donations Coordinator Leah Werry to CountyFM. Leah will be transitioning into the roll over the next couple of months with the guidance of Maureen Robinson; just in time for Radiothon. Leah also brings to the role a very strong background in fundraising.
SOCAN Report Facilitator. Dave Skippen is on his way back from BC and will be taking on this roll. Special thanks to Steve Billinger for doing our SOCAN reports over the past years, a tremendous help…and to Anne Russell for her constant efforts in this regard.
Admin/voice talent/feature work and more… Mary McCown joins us volunteering Monday afternoons. Please welcome Mary, she’ll be getting involved in various projects.
And the biggest announcements in terms of on-air programming, Craig Foster will continue on as host of the Friday live midday show and of course as News Director however he will be relinquishing his Wednesday Morning Show. Craig has been hosting the Wednesday slot since the early days of 99.3 County FM and has always done an amazing job for the community.
Our deepest thanks to Craig Foster…and please join me in congratulating and welcoming Gabrielle Poisson as our new Wednesday Morning Host. Gabrielle has been doing a great job with Mathers Music & Miscellany and filling in for other hosts. Gabrielle will transition into the roll over the next couple of weeks with the official start being Wednesday April 16th.
