The Firelight Lantern Festival – two magical evenings of arts and music – takes place at the Crystal Palace on Friday November 3rd and Saturday November 4th.
On Friday there will be a 19+ evening featuring live music and circus performances with The Soul Motivators – a 9-piece, 3-horn deep funk explosion band – onstage. There will also be a silent auction.
Saturday sees the return of the Lantern Parade in an all-ages event starting in Benson Park. Gather at 6 PM for pre-show performances. The parade will depart at 7 PM and make its way down Main Street to the Crystal Palace, where psych-folk-rock band Beams will take the mainstage.
The public is invited to take part in lantern making workshops at the Department of Illumination studio in the lower level of The Armoury in Picton, 206 Main Street, from 10am-6pm on Oct. 21, 22, 28, and 29.
You will be provided with all the materials and instruction necessary to make a lantern for just $10. Your lantern can be as simple or as complex as you wish, but it’s best to budget at least a few hours’ time to make one. No need to pre-register, just drop in when you wish!
