Outsmarting the Scammers – Helping Seniors Fight Fraud will educate listeners on what to watch for, steps to take to avoid being scammed, and what to do if you are a victim of fraud. Partnering with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the OPP, The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association, and the Municipality of the County of Prince Edward, County FM has created this six-part documentary series as a public service in response to a growing problem.
The series, narrated by Wendy Mesley, each week explores a common type of scam, presents compelling experiences from victims and their families, and provides tips for prevention. Some names of those interviewed have been changed at their request.

“Let’s Learn How to Fight Fraud Together” Public Presentations
99.3 CountyFM presented a series of 15 events at locations across the County to help educate and fight fraud that targets those who are vulnerable in our community.
The events took place in community spaces and other accessible meeting areas, including town halls, across the County. Free refreshments and snacks were provided. Free accessible bus rides were available upon request for all events that were open to the public (age 55+).
These events gave participants a chance to learn about the scams that are happening around us and how to can avoid becoming a victim of fraud. All events were open to the public unless noted.
