December 11, 2013: Prince Edward County Council has approved in principle a grant request for $10,000 for 99.3 County FM.
The decision followed a presentation by board chair Treat Hull, who argued that helping the station get off the ground would benefit diverse groups in the community including businesses, local community groups, seniors and the Municipality itself which would have a new way to communicate with citizens.
“There are many forces working to pull the County apart” Hull argued. “99.3 County FM would be a force to help us pull together as a community.”
With today’s vote, Council approved adding the money to the 2014 budget, but has yet to go through the formality of approving the overall budget by bylaw. So while this means the station’s grant is not cast in stone yet, there is high probability it will be finally approved.
