Here’s another piece of big news: Jim (JJ) Johnston is joining 99.3 County FM as interim General Manager, effective December 16th.
JJ grew up in Prince Edward County and has more than 40 years of radio broadcast experience which includes managing of some of Canada’s best known stations including Q107 and 102.1 The Edge (Toronto) and CKNW, ROCK 101, AM 730 and 99.3 The Fox (Vancouver) as well as numerous eastern Ontario stations including Kingston’s CKWS-FM and Classic Rock FM 96.
“We are incredibly pleased to have someone of Jim’s experience and industry stature on board” according to Treat Hull, Chair of the station’s Board of Directors. “His management and on-air experience, combined with the enthusiasm of our volunteers, means that the station will get off to a great start. Jim’s experience with other startups will be invaluable over the next few months as we work to get the station on the air, and he’ll also help us learn how to run a tight ship once we’re on the air”.
JJ says he’s thrilled to not only be back home, but to be able to work with everyone to put 99.3 County FM on the air and rolling. It’s about time the County got its own radio station and I salute all those who are making this happen and look forward to working with them to bring this dream to life”
