Let’s Learn How to Fight Fraud Together

99.3 CountyFM is presenting a series of 15 events at locations across the County to help educate
and fight fraud that targets those who are vulnerable in our community.

The events are taking place in community spaces and other accessible meeting areas, including town
halls, across the County. Free refreshments and snacks will be provided. Free accessible bus rides
are available upon request for all events open to the public (age 55+) – simply call County Transit

These events will give you a chance to learn about the scams that are happening around us and how
you can avoid becoming a victim of fraud. All events are open to the public unless noted.

99.3 County FM presents the Multi-Part Radio Documentary: Outsmarting the Scammers – Helping Seniors Fight Fraud, February 8th through March 14th.

Thursday, during the noon hour and 6pm re-broadcast of The Grapevine, 99.3 County FM presents a six-part weekly series to provide public education about fraud prevention, with a focus on a wide variety of scams against seniors. Outsmarting the Scammers – Helping Seniors Fight Fraud will educate listeners on what to watch for, steps to take to avoid being scammed, and what to do if you are a victim of fraud. Partnering with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the OPP, The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association, and the Municipality of the County of Prince Edward, County FM has created this six-part documentary series as a public service in response to a growing problem.

The series, narrated by Wendy Mesley, each week explores a common type of scam, hear compelling experiences  from victims and their families, and provide tips for prevention. Some names of those interviewed have been changed at their request.
