John produced Music and Miscellany from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
After 42 years in broadcasting in Canada and Florida, John was kind enough to help build County FM. He led the formation of the news team, the farm reports, and helped develop an incredibly wide range of programming. He was instrumental in creating the unique station we have today. He continued behind the scenes guiding Music & Miscellany and John was an inspiration and mentor to many at the station.
John Mather started his broadcasting career in 1957 at CFCO in Chatham, Ontario. Following a stint with CHLO in St. Thomas-London, he went to CKNX-TV in Wingham where he was nighttime on-air news host. After a year in TV he accepted a position with WVFM in Lakeland, Florida as their morning man and afternoon news reporter where he was also Central Florida Correspondent for the American FM Radio Network. After several years in Florida, John returned to Canada, working for several Years as Program Director at CKOT-FM in Tillsonburg. He spent his last 10 years before retiring as Farm and Agricultural Director at CKPC in Brantford. John Mather will always be treasured for his love of radio and helping others at the station.
John passed in November of 2019.
